Our cat is ruining our table and needs a cat scratching post

My family has a cat, I have to say we are cat lovers. We’e hany cats in the past but now we just have one. And I think it’s time to buy a cat scratching post.

At just have to be the most wonderful pet you can think of. They are affectionate and loving, not smelly like a dog and you can keep them in a house all the time. Now that hard to house train and they don’t eat too much so they don’t cost a lot of money to keep.

But cats aren’t perfect. They do have some annoying habits, and one of them is scratching all sorts of things.

I suppose if you think about it a cat values its claws. Its claws are its main weapon of defence and so it needs to keep them nice and sharp.

Of course that’s not really the case because our cat lives indoors 24 hours a day and there is nobody there that is going to do any harm, but of course our cat doesn’t know that either.

And I suppose it’s instinct that a cat always needs to be ready to defend itself and that includes sharpening its claws whenever it needs to.

Of course in the wild it would just do so on the trunk of the tree, or maybe on a fence post. But because our cat is indoors all the time it doesn’t get to see a tree at all and so he has to find somewhere else to sharpen his claws.

And so he does it on the legs of our table. You should see the mess that it’s made on the table legs. It looks like they’ve been attacked by a chainsaw, it’s made a terrible mess of our beautiful dining room table.

But I know there are solutions, probably one of them like a cat scratching post will work fine. I’ve looked a little on the Internet and I can find some information on how to make your cat scratch the scratching post instead of scratching the legs of my table.

So I’ll have to buy myself a scratching post and see how it works. I will update you once I have bought one and I’ll tell you how my cat likes his cat scratching post.
